Associate Professor Chamindie Punyadeera is a globally acknowledged pioneer in salivary diagnostics. She leads a world-class research laboratory in Australia, the Saliva Translational Research (STaR) laboratory within the Queensland University of Technology. Her team of over 12 researchers focuses on developing novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases and head and neck cancers and linking oral health to systemic diseases. Her team closely collaborates with dentists, oral medicine specialist, surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists and large pharmaceutical companies in translating their research findings into a clinical setting. She currently holds the positions of Group Leader within the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovations at the Queensland University of Technology; Adjunct A/Professor to the University of Queensland Diamantina Institute, Consult to Oasis Diagnostics®, Vancouver, USA and FLUIDS iQ™, Montreal, Canada . A/Prof. Punyadeera has over 60 refereed publications, including 3 invited book chapters, cited 1480 times. She has also produced 13 PCT patents. She has delivered both key note and invited lecturers both nationally and internationally and currently serves on the the Editorial Board of the Journal of Oral Oncology and the Associate Editor to the Journal of Dento Medical Science.
